UB Gamers Meeting Minutes
Sept 5, 2007

Draft of Mission Statement:

The purpose of the University of Baltimore chapter of the IGDA is to provide students with the opportunity to learn about all the components required to develop games. It also encourages and aids its members in preparing their games for competitions and provides opportunities for professional development in the field of games.

Members Present: Rob Siciliano, Joseph Craig, Dan Goldberg, Jessieca McNamara

Agenda:

  1. State Purpose of organization
  2. State steps needed to be recognized by the IGDA

2a. Get recognized as an official UB organization
2b. A minimum of three officers, a faculty advisor, Minimum total of 6 members
2c. A statement if mission or organizational purpose

  1. Conduct vote for officers: President, Secretary, Treasurer, Web-Master
  2. Brainstorm name of club
  3. Discuss activities of the club
  4. Mingle

Item 3- voting for officers was not carried out due to the presence of only 4 people.

Item 4- Voting for club name was likewise not carried out.

Possible activities of the club

1) Bring in professionals to advise and monitor student projects in an effort to develop industry-level student work.

2) LAN parties

3) Creating cartoons as well as games

4) Bringing in Artists and animators

5) Come up with a club game for competitions each semester

6) Bring in professionals as speakers from the gaming industry

7) Showcasing student portfolios

8) Site visits to professional game studios
